Abstract

746,644. Automatic level control systems. PAUL, Inc., P. April 15, 1954, No. 11221/54. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group V] In a machine for feeding plastic material, e.g. candy, into moulds at uniform pressure the material is conveyed by a, plurality of adjacent screws 20, operated by a motor M, into a pressure chamber 13 where it is under air pressure from pipe 46 and from which it is discharged through nozzle 12. If the level of the material rises, it raises a floating ball 52 on one end of a lever 50, pivoted at 51, to the dotted line position shown in Fig. 3, thus raising a guided link 54 connected at 53 to lever 50; this tilts a lever 59 about a pivot 60, by the engagement of a pin 58 in lever 59 with slot 57 in link 54, until a counterpoised weight 66 moves past the vertical through the pivot when the lever 59 moves to the dotted line position shown and switches off the switch S thus stopping the motor M and causing the level of the material to drop until the mechanism again reaches the full line position of Fig. 3.
