Abstract

865,472. Pipe joints. UP-RIGHT Inc. June 6, 1958, No. 18218/58. Class 99(1). A metallic tubular member 16 and a metallic joint member 10, such as are used in scaffolding and assembled in closely spaced concentric relation, are joined by forcing through at least one hole 17 in the member 16 a metered amount of a fluid polymerizable bonding agent, e.g. an epoxy resin, so as to fill the annular space between the members and curing the assembled joint at a temperature sufficiently high and for a sufficient length of time to polymerize the bonding agent. As shown, the member 10 is in the form of ahook provided with a spring loaded pin 11 for holding a tubular member 13 in the hook curved portion 14. In a modification, a tee joint member is bonded to two tubular members. In a further modification, the joint member comprises two barrel portions disposed relative to one another to connect two tubular members at right angles to one another, one of the tubular members being permanently bonded to one barrel portion and the other tubular member being capable of rotation in the other barrel portion.
