Abstract

865,121. Rectilinear-motion bearings. IMPERIAL TYPEWRITER CO. Ltd., and PAYNTER, R. Jan. 5, 1959 [May 9, 1958], No. 14995/58. Class 12 (1). In a bearing, an upper member 14 is supported by rollers 15, or balls, which move along a lower member 11, the members 11, 14 having grooves 12, 16 which receive the rollers. Wearresisting inserts 17 are attached in pairs to faces of the grooves in at least one of the members, each pair being held in the groove by shoulders 13, and also by a pair of wedge-shaped washers 20, each of which has a countersunk hole receiving a screw 21 which forces the washer against the inserts. The inserts have portions adjacent their ends removed to provide clearance for each screw.
