Abstract

558,935. Bearings. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and THIRSK, W. H. Nov. 5, 1942, No. 15612. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing for an axially moving rod comprises a housing 1 having an aperture 2 for the rod and communicating passages 4 for pins 6 each carrying a roller 5, the pins being retained by bolts or pins 7 at the intersections of the passages 4. The housing may be metal or plastic or resin-reinforced fabric and consist of a single block or a web having an integral and consist of a single block or a web having an integral block at each corner. The rollers 5 are of rubber, fibre, &c. and make line contact with the rod to permit slight variations in alignment or, according to the Provisional Specification, they may be dished or shaped to conform to the curvature of the rod.
