Abstract
864,949. Thermal switches. MACANDREW, J. F., STORK, B., and THOMPSON & CO. (SUNBURY) Ltd., R. E. March 3, 1959 [March 3, 1958], No. 6822/58. Class 38 (5). A thermostatic switch comprises a casing 3 having a spring clip 4 for holding a heat-conductive wall 6 against the side of an aquarium (Fig. 2, not shown). A bimetallic strip 1 and a leafspring 2 are secured to the wall 6 by means of a screw 9 and insulating washers 10. The strip 1 carries a permanent magnet 17 and contact 7, while leaf-spring 2 carries an armature 18 and contact 8. A rigid bracket 11 carries an adjusting-screw 12 abutting an insulator 14 on a rigid metal bar 15 riveted to the leaf-spring 2 near its fixed end. To control the switch differential a set-screw 19 is provided at the end of bar 15 so as to impart an adjustable initial deflection to the leaf-spring 2. A neon indicator lamp 20 lights when contacts 7, 8 are closed.
