Abstract

610,475. Thermal switches. THOMPSON & CO. (SUNBURY), Ltd., R. E., and BENFORD, P. R. April 8, 1946, No. 10721. [Class 38 (v)] A thermal switch comprises a C-shaped bimetal strip 6 secured at one end by a terminal 7 to an insulating cylindrical casing 1 and carrying at the other end a silver contact 16 engaging a fixed silver contact 15 carried by an inclined adjustable screw 13. A spring 17 shunts the strip 6 to reduce the current carried thereby. A pillar 5 formed on the base 2 of the casing supports a fibre disc which is cemented in a recess 3 to seal the switch. The switch may be sewn to an electric blanket by means of holes 18 in the base.
