Class 61 A spanner for tightening a nut or head of a bolt by means of flats formed on the nut or bolt head comprises a body 1 having a bore with one or more inwardly projecting teeth 2 the or each tooth having a land 4 adapted to bite into a flat on the nut or bolt head gripped thereby when torque is applied. As shown two pairs of diametrically opposed teeth 2 project inwardly into the central bore 3, each pair having lands 4 which are substantially parallel. The working end of the bore is bevelled to facilitate placing the device over the bolt head. At the opposite end the body 1 is formed as a socket for attachment to the stock of a T spanner or impact spanner such as that described and claimed in Specification 662,486.
