Abstract

862,933. Resilient mountings. WELLS & CO. Ltd., A., and UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. July 28, 1959 [Aug. 6, 1958], No. 25237/58. Class 108(3). Anti-vibration mountings of the types described in Specifications 571,029 and 740,519 have the addition of a spring buffer for limiting radial movement of the central columnar member. The example shown in Figs. 1 and 2 based on the latter Specification comprises a pot-shaped member 20 carrying an annular plate 22 through which passes a columnar member 26 retained in position by two sets of helical springs 29 with their axes on the faces of two opposing cones secured to the plate 22, stop plates 30, 31 to limit axial movement of the mounting, a vibration damper constituted by four spring loaded buttons 34 with shanks accommodated in the sleeves 36 of the stop plate 31 and a spring buffer 14. This latter comprises an inner casing 15, 16 fitted to a mounting bolt 11 and an outer casing 17, 18 urged apart by U-shaped springs 37 the ends of which engage with the lugs 38 of the inner casing. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) depict alternative spring buffers containing radial helical coil springs between the inner and outer casings. The spring buffer of Fig. 5 includes, fixed to a stationary support an outer shell 43 containing an annular member 45, with radial bores containing helical springs 39 to limit radial movement and longitudinal bores containing springs 47 to limit axial movement, the springs bearing on the sleeve 46 and flanges 48, 49. Specification 571,026 also is referred to.
