Abstract

862,001. Revolving seats. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. April 10, 1959 [May 13, 1958], No. 12170/59. Class 52(2). [Also in Group XXXIII] In a special-purpose helicopter wherein the pilot has to view forwardly and rearwardly, the seat 40 is pivotally mounted at 66 in a yoke fitting 64 which has a depending hollow spindle 68 rotatably mounted in a housing 74 secured to the cabin floor 76. Radial loads are carried by plain bearings 80, 84 and thrust loads by a ball race 78. Control mechanism 158 (see Group XXXIII) passes coaxially through spindle 68.
