Abstract

1517817 Reclining aircraft seats MC DONNELL DOUGLAS CORP 17 Aug 1976 34240/76 Heading A4J An aircraft pilots' reclining seat for high acceleration conditions comprises a seat frame 11- 14, a head support 16 carried by the frame, a seat back 18 pivoted at its upper margin at 19 to the frame, a seat bottom 21 pivoted at 20 to the back 18, seat reclining means 23 connected to the frame at 24 and the seat bottom at 26, and seat motion control means 27 connected to the frame at 28 at the seat bottom at 29 to move the seat bottom upwardly and forwardly and the seat back about its pivot 19, the head support being held against movement with the back. The frame is adjustably mounted in an ejection track 10, and the head support is hingedly adjustable on the frame. The reclining means 23 comprises fluid or electromechanical screw operated thrusters 23 controlled by a manual switch and allows infinite positioning of the seat back and bottom. The control means 27 comprise links.
