Abstract

861,097. Lap winding apparatus. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. May 25, 1959 [May 2, 1958], No. 14100/58. Class 120(1) In order to initiate build-up of a lap, a hollow, perforated lap-roller is employed that may be connected to a suction source which is automatically cut off after the build-up has started. The hollow lap-roller 12 perforated by slots 122 has its open end pressed against a nozzle 1531 made of rubber or other flexible material and mounted to slide on a tube 151 connected to the suction source. The tube 151 is mounted in a head 15 pivoted so that the nozzle 1531 rises as a lap builds up and eventually pivots free of the roller 12. Pivoting movement of the head 15 is arranged to shut off or apply suction.
