Abstract

685,190. Cutting machines. FORSTER, L. G. May 16, 1951. No. 11483/51. Addition to 668,082. Class 31 (i). In the machine set forth in the parent Specification, a bowing element 100 substantially encircling the spindle of the rotating cutter 26 is adapted to deflect the central part of the film 8 slightly away from the cutter so as to produce a shallow bow or corrugation running lengthwise of the film whereby the latter is stiffened to facilitate its movement. The bowing element may be a cam or be of circular form with its centre disposed eccentrically to the axis of rotation of the cutter. To assist the bowing action, the fixed guide plate 10 is cut away at 103 and the movable guide plate 11, which is also cut away at 107, is provided. with a button 104.
