Abstract

<PICT:0877937/IV (a)/1> Corrugations are removed from a cellulose acetate film by leading it into contact with a surface heated to at least 65 DEG C. to remove the strains in the film. The heated surface may be a heated roller, freely mounted and rotated by contact with the film, but a driven roller or a heated curved plate may also be used. The time of contact between the film and the heated roller may be from 1-10 seconds. As shown, a cellulose acetate film 1 passes over an unheated guide roller 3, over the heated roller 4 and then around a further unheated guide roller 5.
