Abstract
859,618. Mineral-mining apparatus. GELSENKIRCHENER BERGWERKS A. G. Oct. 20,1958 [Oct. 21, 1957], No. 33476/58. Class 68(1). Mineral-mining apparatus consists of a cutting machine having positioned to one side of the body 7a of the machine two contra-rotatable cutter drums 14, 15 so that mineral mined by the drums is carried by the drums through the gap 21 between the drums and discharged into a suction conveyer 9, the intake end 10 of which is secured to and drawn forward by the body of the machine. The upper drum 14 is pivotal about the axis of the lower drum 15 and may be moved radially of this axis so that the gap between the drums can be varied to suit the produced particle size of the mineral. The mineral is removed from the main suction pipe before reaching the end of the pipe by a branch pipe extended into the main pipe through a longitudinal slot in the main pipe, the slot being sealed off around the branch pipe by flaps as it moves relative to the main pipe during the advance of the cutting machine.
