Abstract
3-(31-amino-41-methoxyphenyl)-4-methyl-1, 2, 5-oxdiazole may be made by converting the monoxime obtained on treating diazotised 4-methoxyaniline with isonitroacetone into the dioxime of 4-1methoxyphenyl-methyl di-ketone ring closing to 3-(41-methoxyphenyl)4-methyl-1, 2, 5-oxdiazole, nitrating, and reducing to the desired amine.ALSO:The invention comprises water-insoluble dyes of formula: <FORM:0859444/IV (c)/1> where R is an aryl radical and X is H or Hlg. They are prepared by coupling appropriate diazonium compounds in substance or on the fibre or another substratum with an arylamide of 2- naphthol -3- carboxylic acid or a 6- halogen derivative thereof. The dyes are used to colour vegetable fibres, including regenerated cellulose, and synthetic fibres such as acetyl cellulose and polyamides. They may also be used for colouring plastic masses and for preparing colour lakes. Examples are provided of the preparation of the dyes and their use in dyeing processes in which various shades of red are obtained. In the reactants used X is H or Br and R is a naphthalene residue or a benzene residue which may contain methyl, methoxy and chlorine groups as substituents.
