Abstract

The invention comprises water-insoluble dyes of formula: <FORM:0844777/IV (c)/1> which are made by coupling an appropriate diazotised aniline derivative with the necessary acetoacetyl aminobenzene. The dyes are used to colour films of cellulose esters or ethers, printing-inks, synthetic and natural resins and rubber. They may be applied to textiles by padding and printing-techniques and may be used in the production of spun-dyed acetate and viscose rayon. Colour lakes may also be formed. Yellow-green shades are obtained. In an example illustrating the preparation of the dyes, and their use in colouring processes, dyes containing n-butyl and iso-butyl groups are obtained.
