Abstract

858,703. Two-part connectors; wire end connectors. WEBB, C. D. H. June 19, 1957 [May 23, 1956], No. 16003/56. Class 38 (1) A terminal 11 comprises a metal block 13, e.g. brass or copper having an internally threaded hole 14 for receiving a conductor which is crimped therein, serrated jaws 17 gripping the conductor insulation. In the assembly shown (Fig. 1) a pair of terminals is inserted into a socket 12 and each retained therein by the engagement of the ends of the arms of a clip 21 secured to the block 13 in slots 25 in the socket. The socket 12 is received in a channel 27 and retained therein by the engagement of deformed corners 29 of the channel in cut-out portions 31 in the socket 12, tongues cut from the channel projecting through apertures in the socket engaging terminals 11 and assist in providing a low resistance path. Alternatively a number'of depressions may be provided in the socket to engage the terminal connectors, and the connectors may be wholly or partly of circular cross section. The assembly may be surrounded by an insulating sleeve.
