Abstract
858,353. Roadside tyre-inflating plant. PNEUMATIC COMPONENTS Ltd. May 29, 1959 [June 11, 1958], No. 18600/58. Class 116 [Also in Group XXIX] In air dispensing-apparatus as described in Specification 766,354 and as modified by Specification 838,932 the exhaust from the intermittently-operated control valve D controlling the main valve G supplying compressed air from the main 10 to the tyre connector F through lines 17, 18, 20 passes through a line 24 to a striking unit H to produce an audible signal when the apparatus is operating. The striking unit comprises a mounting block 47, Fig. 3, having an upstanding tube 48 housing a closely fitting ball 50 which, when at the bottom of the tube, closes a bore 51 at the outlet end of the line 24. On each closing of the valve D, air exhausted through the line 24 raises the ball 50 into engagement with a bell or gong J to give an audible signal, air then exhausting to atmosphere through a hole 54. A small bleed hole 55 near the bottom of the tube ensures that air will be exhausted even should the hole 54 be closed by a film of oil. The main valve G includes a spring- loaded valve member 40, Fig. 2, controlling flow between the lines 17, 18 and it is actuated by a diaphragm 31 which receives impulses of air from a line 16 every time the valve D opens.
