Abstract

1,057,719. Weapon simulators. SAAB A.B. Sept. 6, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 36617/66. Divided out of 1,057,718. Heading F3C. A weapon firing simulator comprises a gas chamber 5 connected to a source 1 of gas under pressure and provided with an outlet 12 (Fig. 2, not shown). A rotatable member 13 normally closes the outlet but it is provided with at least one spring 20 which, in the rotation of the rotatable member, cooperates or co-operate with the outlet 12 to produce a rapid intermittent release of gas to form sound shocks or detonations. The rotatable member 13 is driven by a pneumatic motor 18 controlled by a magnet valve 6, a distributer valve 8 and a valve 19. The outlet 12 may take the form of a nozzle in a plunger slidable in the chamber walls or an opening in a rubber diaphragm (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). Light simulation is provided by a bulb 27, the light from which passes through an aperture 29 in the rotatable member 13 on to a reflector 30. Smoke generating means is also provided and comprises a liquid held in a container 31, the liquid being drawn from the container by directing pressurized gas over a nozzle of a tube 33 which tube 33 extends into the liquid. The gas/liquid mixture forms a smoke cloud. The simulator may be actuated intermittently by a rotatable switch member (Fig. 5, not shown).
