Abstract

857,708. Buoyant ladders. NORMALAIR Ltd. May 7, 1959 [May 7, 1958], No. 14556/58. Class 77. [Also in Group XXXIII] A ladder 2, Figs. 1, 2, comprising rungs 4 covered by a fabric 12 is suspended by flaps 3 from an inflated U-shaped body 1 having handholds 13 and mooring and towing points 15, 16. Each flap 3 is secured to a fabric piece 5 attached to one limb of the body and the ladder attaching means are such that the ladder may also invert should the body do so. In a modification, handrails 18, Fig. 4, project from the ladder and the body comprises a frame 17 upon which is built a structure of cellular material 14. In another embodiment the body consists of a plurality of metal watertight compartments, whilst in a further form two boat-like floats 1, Fig. 8, suspend between them a double ladder 2.
