Abstract
884,520. Inflatable craft. SOC ZODIAC. Feb. 24, 1959 [Feb. 27, 1958], No. 6381/59. Class 113. An inflatable life-raft, comprising longitudinal floats 1 and 2 connected at the front by a slightly upswept semi-circular float 3, has a transverse float or flexible or rigid partition which divided the raft into a section for the occupants, which may have weather protection, and a section without freeboard at the rear into which the occupants embark. A ramp 7, extending into the water and secured to the floor at the rear end of the latter section and at its sides by skirts 12<SP>1</SP> and 12<SP>2</SP>, is provided with footholds and is stiffened in the inclined position by arms 14 and 15 arranged to fold when the raft is packed. Ropes 20 and handles 21 are provided to assist embarkation. The ramp 7 may be lifted out of the water or disconnected from the raft and the raft may have a third longitudinal float disposed between the floats 1 and 2. The invention is applicable to non-inflatable life-boats.
