Abstract
857,400. Coated resistors. WELWYN ELECTRIC Ltd., [formerly WELWYN ELECTRICAL LABORATORIES Ltd.], and GARNSWORTHY, C. Oct. 7, 1959 [Oct. 27, 1958], No. 34393/58. Class 37 In the production of a resistor comprising a fired on layer of oxides on a vitrified or sintered inorganic body, a suspension of a flux and a powdered oxide mixture of tin, boron and/or antimony oxides in a liquid is applied to the body. The coating is dried and fired under neutral or oxidising conditions to produce a surface resistivity greater than 1000 ohms per square. Further oxides such as those of titanium, aluminium, beryllium, magnesium, silicon, zinc, manganese and cobalt may be employed. Lead and borosilicate glasses may be used as a flux and the liquid may be an aqueous or alcoholic medium with a suspending agent such as ammonium alginate or colaphony resin respectively, the mixture being applied to a glass or ceramic material.
