857,076. Sound-directive appliances. WATTS Ltd., C. E. April 1, 1958 [April 8, 1957], No. 11447/57. Class 13. [Also in Group XXXIX] An improved distribution of sound is achieved by arranging three loud-speakers 22, 23, 24 in axial alignment. These loud-speakers and a bass speaker 19 handle different frequency bands. The speaker 23 faces downwards, the others upwards. A small baffle 27 is mounted above the bass speaker 19 which is loaded by a tapering chamber 33 terminating in an aperture 34. The speaker 22 is likewise loaded by a chamber 35 with an aperture 37. The apertures 34, 37 may be covered with foam rubber. A cover 29 has honeycomb walls to assist in spreading the sound. Specification 769,204 is referred to.
