838,021. Electrostatic loud-speakers. PYE Ltd. Oct. 11, 1957 [Oct. 11, 1956], No. 31045/56. Class 40 (4). In an electrostatic loud-speaker a sheet of polyethylene terephthalate is secured in a supporting frame and tensioned by heating the membrane and allowing it to cool to cause it to shrink in the frame. The useful range of temperatures to which the membrane may be heated is said to be from about 70 ‹ to about 80 ‹ C. and heating to the highest temperatures can reduce the membrane by 5%. Further reductions of the membrane can be achieved by successive reheatings and coolings. Specification 838,022 is referred to.
