Class 20(2) A structural bar has a flat surface 12 in which are formed groups of four bolt holes 17 at regular intervals along the bar's length, the holes in each group lying on a circle and, in pairs at opposite ends of two diameters of the circle, and four more holes lying on the circle and, in pairs, at opposite ends of two further diameters of the circle as in Fig. 5, or lying on a second circle having the same centre as the first and in pairs, at opposite ends of two diameters of the second circle as in Fig. 1, the further diameters of the first circle or the diameters of the second circle defining an acute angle which is the complement of the angle between the first diameters of the first circle. In addition each group of holes has a larger hand-hole 47, Fig. 5 or slot 14, Fig. 1. A channel section bar has a group of seventeen holes 17 disposed as shown either side of slots 14. Holes 22 in the side walls 13 are disposed transverse to holes 17. In the arrangement of Fig. 5, sixteen holes 52 are disposed about a circular hole 49 which has an upraised edge. Bars are bolted end to end by short nesting pieces of larger or smaller section than the bars (Fig. 12, not shown, refers). Square section bars are formed from two larger and two smaller section bars, (Fig. 11, not shown); and the bars may be bolted at an angle employing the corresponding holes (Fig. 10, not shown). The bars may be cast in concrete to form reinforced beams.
