Abstract

856,216. Reciprocating pumps. LOXHAMS ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. July 1, 1959 [July 7, 1958], No. 21659/58. Class 102(1). A sight feed pump comprises a differential plunger 5, 8 whose larger diameter part 5 draws liquid from the reservoir 1 through a part 7 and delivers the liquid through outlet 16 past a dead weight valve 23 to a collector 24 from which the smaller diameter port 8 of the plunger draws liquid through inlet 9 and the liquid is delivered past an outlet valve 28. Delivery into the collector 24 and movement of the valve 23 can be observed through a sight glass 31. The dead weight valve 23 is preferably of the form of a flat sided plug having a conical shaped bottom. An annular recess 26 around the lower cylinder allows for the collection and escape of air through a port 27. The cylinders may be formed of separate members as may be the plungers of which the port 8 is preferably nylon.
