Abstract

856,200. Air filters. SMIDTH & CO. A.S., F. L. March 13, 1957 [March 13, 1956], No. 7855/56. Class 8(2). Reverse flow cleaning of a plurality of inward flow air filter bags 4, Fig. 1, located within a chamber 1 and arranged in columns and having the bag outlets of each column opening into a clean air duct 5, Fig. 2, the open ends of which ducts lie in a plane formed by a partition 6 dividing the dust-laden air chamber 1 from a clean air chamber 7 is effected by moving a hood 9 supplied from a blower 11 over the ends of the ducts 5, whereby a discharge aperture 10, Fig. 3, of the hood registers with each duct 5 in turn, whilst side flaps 44 of the hood 9 blank off the two ducts adjacent the one in register with the aperture 10. In a modification a hood 19, Fig. 8, is traversed along the lower open ends of ducts 5 on a track 30 and is connected to the blower 11 through a rotary point 8, rigid telescoping pipes 35, 36 a rotary point 45 and a rigid pipe 37 the latter having a flap valve 39, Fig. 9 (not shown), actuated when a star wheel 41 is engaged by pins spaced along the track 30 and serving to provide pulses of cleaning air to the filter bags.
