Abstract
855,464. Electromagnetic relays. UHER, E. Jan. 15, 1959 [Jan. 21, 1958], No. 1540/59. Addition to 818,577. Class 38 (5). A relay particularly for car lighting dynamo control, as described in the parent Specification, has an additional element, having a temperature-dependent permeability, in the main magnetic circuit in order to provide a constant voltage characteristic over the lower temperature range. The additional element which partially compensates for the external element may be mounted coaxially on the main pole of the relay between it and the armature (Fig. 2, not shown). In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 4) allowing compensation for the reduction in flux in the main circuit on heating, the additional element 36 is offset from the axis of the core 5 toward the armature pivot R. At lower internal temperatures the flux passes between the member 36 and the armature 35 with a lever arm of length 12, but at higher temperatures the flux passes from the core head 9 to an iron plate 41 on the end of the armature with a lever arm of greater length l1.
