Abstract
The invention comprises carboxylic acids, salts and esters of the pyrazole series, of the general formula: <FORM:0854950/IV(b)/1> (wherein Ar1 and Ar2 represent phenyl radicals which may be substituted by C1-4 alkyl or alkoxy groups or by halogen atoms, R represents a C1-4 alkyl radical, R1 represents hydrogen or a methyl or ethyl radical and R2 represents hydrogen, a C1-4 alkyl radical or a normal equivalent of a cation), and the preparation thereof by reacting a metal compound of a 4-substituted 1 : 2-diaryl-3 : 5-dioxopyrazolidine of the general formula: <FORM:0854950/IV(b)/2> (or a tautomeric form thereof) with an a -haloalkanecarboxylic acid ester of the general formula: <FORM:0854950/IV(b)/3> (wherein X represents a halogen atom and R12 a C1-4 alkyl radical), or reacting a metal compound of a 4-substituted 1 : 2-diaryl-3 : 5-dioxopyrazolidine of the general formula: <FORM:0854950/IV(b)/4> with an alkyl halide R-X, and in each case, if desired, hydrolysing the resulting ester to the free acid, and, if desired converting this into a salt with an inorganic or organic base. The products have antiphlogistic, antipyretic and analgesic properties which make them useful for treating rheumatic complaints. Specification 811,700 is referred toALSO:As antiphlogistic, antipyretic and analgesic agents for the treatment of rheumatic diseases may be employed carboxylic acids, salts and esters of the pyrazole series, of the general formula: <FORM:0854950/VI/1> wherein Ar1 and Ar2 represent phenyl radicals which may be substituted by C1-4 alkyl or alkoxy groups or by halogen atoms, R represents a C1-4 alkyl radical, R1 represents hydrogen or a methyl or ethyl radical, and R2 represents hydrogen, a C1-4 alkyl radical or a normal equivalent of a cation. They may be administered orally or, when R2 represents an alkali metal ion, by intramuscular or intravenous injection of aqueous solutions of these salts. Specification 811,700 is referred to.
