Abstract
854,729. Heating ores by passage of current. KLOCKNER-HUTTENWERK HASPE A.G. July 10, 1959 [July 15, 1958], No. 23823/59. Class 39(3). Fine ores fed from a vibrating hopper 5 are sintered by current passing between two carbon electrode rolls 1, 2 and drop into a conveyer waggon 6. If the ores are non-conducting at room temperature small amounts of an electrically conducting fine ore, e.g. Fe 3 O 4 may be added. A high frequency voltage may be superimposed on the sintering current for initiating ignition in the cold condition. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown) the ores are fed by a shoot to a gap between two rolls arranged one above the other and drop on to a conveyer belt.
