Abstract

854,511. Mounting terminals. STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS Ltd. Aug. 1, 1958 [Aug. 19, 1957], No. 26076/57. Class 38(1) A terminal comprises a metal wire or rod 2 passing through a ceramic tube having a head 3 and a stem 1 of length such that the centre of gravity of the terminal lies in the stem. A metallic coating 6 is provided on the head and stem and the latter is provided with an annular groove 5 at its junction with the head to obviate the formation of a fillet of glaze at this junction if the ceramic tube is glazed. For sealing in the terminals the pretinned panel is heated to cause fusion of the coating on the panel with the metallic coating 6 on the terminal. Where the panel 1 is to form part of a container for oil immersed apparatus and the head is to be inside the terminal is sealed in the panel while the surface of the latter which is to be the inner surface is uppermost.
