Abstract

854,183. Coated cardboard carton blanks. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. July 2, 1958 [Oct. 15, 1957], No. 32252/57. Class 140. [Also in Group XVII] A cardboard carton blank shaped as in Fig. 1 is coated on both surfaces with wax 3 with an additional coating beneath the wax on one surface only of a thermoplastic adhesive composition 4 which is incompatible with the wax, non- tacky at normal temperatures and softens at a higher temperature than the wax melting point. Application of heat and pressure during assembly of the carton melts the wax coating and exposes the thermoplastic adhesive beneath it, the melted wax being absorbed into the opposing surface.
