Abstract

1,215,236. Laminated corrugated paperboard. INTERNATIONAL PAPER CO. 18 April, 1968, No. 18321/68. Heading B5N. Corrugated paperboard comprising at least one liner attached to a corrugated medium is made by applying wax or a wax-thermoplastic resin blend to the liner, applying a molten wax-thermoplastic resin blend to the medium, corrugating the medium, applying a waterproof resorcinol-starch adhesive between the liner and medium and pressing at elevated temperature. The adhesive may be sprayed on to the medium immediately before the wax blend is applied thereto; the liner may be similarly treated. The process may be carried out continuously by applying wax or wax blends, in amount 10% by wt. of the liner and up to 30% by wt. of the medium, before corrugation and combination. The application on the medium may be by a knurled roll and doctor blade.
