Abstract

853,566. Annealing. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Aug. 21, 1959 [Sept. 15, 1958], No. 29496/58. Class 72 [Also in Groups XI and XXII] Stress is reieved in a large metal vessel 1 made up of welded plates by heat e.g. a pressure vessel for a nuclear reactor, heat exchanger or fractionating apparatus, radiation from a central column 4 which is formed by sections 6 interfitting or locked together end-toend, electrical heating elements being mounted around the periphery of some of the sections (see Group XI). The column is hollow to contain the electrical supply conductors and for the circulation of air. The column is offset at 20 to avoid an obstruction.
