[Also in Group XXV] In an air jacketed sheet metal liquid fuel combustion chamber a flame tube b is supported by a plurality of circumferentially spaced pairs of flexible metal plates a, f respectively attached to the inner surface of the jacket and the outer surface of the flame tube and interconnected by a transverse pin m passing through hinge-like knuckles on the plates, thereby allowing relative radial and axial movement of air jacket and flame tube. In each pair of plates, the plate a, of shallow vee-form, is attached to the outer surface of the flame tube band has an internal cut-out c into which passes the plate f, which is attached to the inner surface of the air jacket. Both plates have a semi-circular depression d which accommodates the hinge pin m, the pin being retained by cover strips welded to the plates. In an alternative construction, a plate f <SP>1</SP> is secured to the air jacket and co-operates with a plate a<SP>1</SP> which is in the form of a cantilever, the two plates being joined by a pin m as in the previous construction. Any number of equispaced pairs of plates may be employed. In other equivalent forms each plate may be adapted to be secured in position at one edge only, along lines parallel with or at right angles to the pin.
