A cylindrical sheet metal flame tube a, inside an air jacket b, has at least one reinforcing hoop c made of metal strip surrounding the flame tube and supported in spaced relation thereto by flexible metal strips d, or by a transversely corrugated flexible metal ring. The strips may be obliquely disposed one end of each lying within the hoop and the other outside it, Fig. 2; alternatively each strip may lie so that it extends along the length of the flame tube.
