852,720. Fertilizers. DUNGEMITTEL TECHNIK A.G. April 27, 1959 [April 30, 1958], No. 14341/59. Class 111. In a method of manufacturing phosphate fertilizers in granular form the granulation of the powdered phosphate is produced by spraying on the phosphate a mixture of phosphoric acid and calcium sulphate obtained by the action of sulphuric acid on phosphate. As shown phosphate material from a hopper 11 and sulphuric acid via a piping 12 are fed to a mixer 10 from which the mixture is pumped by a pump 13 and conduit 14 to a spraying machine 15 placed above a tray granulator 16 which is fed with phosphate by a distributer 17. The granules thus produced which may be assisted in forming by an additional spraying with water fall into a hopper 18 from which they are collected. Ammonia may be added to the mixture of phosphoric acid and calcium sulphate. The phosphate material may comprise natural phosphate, superphosphate and sulphates.
