852,217. Door and window frames. ATVIDABERGS BUTIKSINREDNINGAR A. B. Dec. 2, 1958 [Dec. 5, 1957], No. 38899/58. Class 20(3) The frame members of a window sash, window frame, door frame &c. has a facing, at least external of the building in which it is incorporated, of channel section made of a synthetic, substantially non-deformable material such as plastics, the frame member and channel section facing being so disposed with respect to each other as to leave between them a condensation and expansion space which is preferably provided with a drainage outlet. Figs. 1 and 2 are vertical sections respectively through the upper and lower parts of a window sash and frame. The limbs 9, 10 of the U-shaped section facing 11 fit into recesses 7, 8 of the frame and are secured e.g. by nails, screws &c. or by glueing, the web 11 being inclined obliquely to provide a flow off surface and a space 12 between the frame and facing. A drip edge 13 extends from the web 11. Similarly the facing 18 of channel section is secured to the outside of the window sash member 3 leaving a space between the facing and the sash with the web 18 providing a flow-off surface. In the case of the lower sash member 3, Fig. 2, the sash member is provided with a drip nose 35. Longitudinal grooves 22, 23 are provided in the external face of the frame lower member 2 with a shoulder 29 between them and the web 28 of the facing member is held against the shoulder forming condensation and expansion spaces 30, 31. Alternatively the shoulder 29 may be on the web 28. The vertical frame members are similarly faced and at the corners a corner vaulted facing 58, Fig. 5, covers the abutting horizontal and. vertical sash parts channel facings 56, 57 and has fixing plates 63, 64 on the web portions which extend beyond the flanges and are disposed a little below the outer plane of the facing and are provided with holes 65 for screws or other fastenings in a shoulder 66 on the inside of the fixing plate which rests against the sash part when the facing has been secured to the sash so as to provide a condensation space. One of the flanges of the corner facing 58 has an outlet 67 for condensate. The facing may cover the whole supporting body in which case it takes the form of a sleeve to be pushed on to the supporting body.
