Abstract

851,957. Woven fabrics. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Feb. 26, 1959 [April 23, 1958], No. 6662/59. Class 142(4). Buckled areas 31, 34 on one face alternating with buckled areas 32, 33 on the other face are produced by shrinking a fabric consisting of two plain-woven plies interchanged as shown, one warp and weft 11, 160 being yarns which shrink 15-60% more than the other yarns 13, 130. The shrinkable yarns may be monofils of branched polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, or a high-shrink copolymer of vinylidene and vinyl chlorides. The relatively non-shrinkable yarns may be monofils of nylon, polyethylene terephthalate, or a normal copolymer of vinylidene and vinyl chlorides. The fabric may be placed between two surfaces (e.g. in a garment) to produce air spaces. Specification 661,074 is referred to.
