851,904. Fluid-actuated valves. STEWARTWARNER CORPORATION. April 25, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 13225/58. Class 135. In an axial flow fluidpressure relief valve having a loose ball urged against its seat by a spring, a cup - shaped member 7 is interposed between the ball 6 and the spring 10. The cupshaped member which is made of thin sheet metal is formed at its bottom with a concave depression 8 for locating the ball and apertures 9 through which the pressure fluid unrestrictedly passes when the valve is open and its length is such that when the valve is fully open full compression of the spring 10 is prevented. The upper end of the body 2 which is peened over to secure a spring abutment washer 11 may be extended upwardly and include internal screw-threads for engagement with external threads on a union to permit the valve to be connected in a pipe-line and used as a check valve.
