Abstract

851,900. Oil burners. AUTO-COMBUSTIONS (LONDON) Ltd. May 14, 1959 [Feb. 28, 1958], No. 6539/58. Class 75(1). A burner head comprising a primary air casing 16 enclosing an oil nozzle 15 and supporting ignition electrodes 19 is disposed in an air duct 3 and is movable axially to vary the annular air passage between the ends of the primary air casing 16 and the air duct 3. The primary air casing 16 has air inlet apertures 18 and is mounted on the oil pipe 13 which extends through a boss 27 on a removable plate 28 covering an opening in the body of the burner. A nut 29 is threaded on to the projecting end of the oil pipe and a screw 30 in the boss 27 engages an annular groove in the nut so that when the nut is rotated the oil pipe is moved axially. The ignition leads are connected by plugs 21 to sockets 22 mounted within the body of the burner and connected to a transformer 23 mounted on the burner. Air is supplied to the duct 3 by a fan 2 driven by an electric motor which also drives the oil pump. The air is swirled by vanes 31 in the air duct 3.
