Abstract
1,071,785. Electric igniter. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 26, 1963 [Nov. 27, 1962], No. 44836/62. Heading F4F. [Also in Division F1] An electric igniter for a jet engine comprises an outer hollow electrode (1) forming a fuel swirl chamber and a discharge nozzle (4), and an inner coaxial electrode (2) forming an arc gap with the nozzle (4). Fuel is fed tangentially by an inlet (6) in the outer electrode (7) or through tangential slots in the inner electrode (2). The inner electrode may be axially movable. The inner wall of the nozzle may have lands and grooves, or helical flutes.
