Abstract
An aqueous pharmaceutical preparation particularly for oral use comprises ferrous fumarate in fine particulate form and lecithin, the preparation having a reduced tendency to agglomerating or impacting of the ferrous fumarate particles. The ferrous fumarate is milled or micronised and the particles are preferably less than 50 microns. Preferably sufficient lecithin is present to coat the ferrous fumarate. The preparations contain 1,5 to 3,5, and especially 2,0 to 3,0, and advantageously 2,11% of ferrous fumarate and 0,01-1,5%, and especially 0,2 to 1,0 and advantageously 1,0% of lecithin. Optional ingredients are (a) hydrophyllic colloids particularly non-ionic ones such as methyl cellulose (b) reducing sugars such as glucose, corn syrup, maltose or malt extract (c) preservatives, colours and flavours.
