Abstract

1,200,906. Vitamin preparations. FERROSAN A.S. 24 Nov., 1967 [1 Dec., 1966], No. 53617/67. Heading A5B. A dry, particulate, free flowing preparation comprising fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A and D in particular) are prepared by dispersing the vitamins in an aqueous dispersion of a gelatin which has been partially degraded by treatment with 0.05 to 0.5 gram equivalents per 100 gms. gelatine, of a base (e.g. NH 4 OH or an alkali metal hydroxide) or an inorganic acid (e.g. HCl or H 2 SO 4 ) at 40‹ to 95‹C for 0.15 to 1 hour and subsequent adjustment of pH to 4.5 to 7, followed by forming the dispersion into solid particles by conventional methods, e.g. spraychilling. A plasticiser, e.g. a sugar or sugar alcohol may be included in the preparations.
