Abstract

851,102. Air filters. FARR CO. June 29, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1959], No. 22181/59. Class 8(2). The major portion of dust-laden air leaving the lower end of a vertical inlet duct 14 passing through the centre of the top 12 of a cylindrical filter casing 11 passes directly through a vertical filter sleeve 41 whilst the remainder passes down an imperforate secondary conduit 27 dipping into an oil sump 20 whereby oil is carried on to the filter sleeve 41 ; the combined air streams after leaving the filter sleeve traverses an auxiliary filter element 60 before being discharged through a side outlet 55 of the casing 11. The secondary duct 27 which is about half the diameter of the main duct 14 is supported by lips 52 struck from vertical arms 50 of spacing members 35 each comprising a vertical portion 37 and horizontal portions 36, 39.
