Abstract
850,866. Making heat-exchangers. PHILCO CORPORATION. March 5, 1957 [March 5, 1956], No. 7258/57. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XIII] A unitary metal sheet having refrigerant passageways is slit and bent to shape to form condenser 22, evaporators 20, 21 for high and low-temperature compartments 16, 17 and restrictor tube 24. Preferably the sheet is formed by roll-forging and subsequent dilation of the passageways. In the sheet shown in Fig. 2, a T-shaped slit 46 separates the condenser from evaporator 20 and the restrictor tube from the condenser and evaporator 20. Gaps 41, 42, 43 separate evaporators 20, 21. An H-shaped out 40 separates the parts of evaporator 21 which form the upper and lower faces thereof. Suction conduit 37 is formed parallel to restrictor tube 24 to be in heat-exchange therewith. After formation of the flat sheet it is bent to the shape shown in Fig. 7, the condenser 22 being spaced from the rear wall of the cabinet and the part 48, in which the restrictor tube and suction conduit are formed, being secured to the rear wall. A slightly modified disposition of the passageways is described with reference to Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 748,206 and 790,743.
