Abstract
849,764. Feeding webs. KUSTERS, E. Jan. 1, 1959 [July 31, 1958], No. 20/59. Class 100(1) A transportable web roll support, particularly for textile webs coming from a previous treatment, comprises a winding mandrel capable of being driven and mounted at its ends in a carriage, and a drum enclosing the winding mandrel which may be rotated relatively to the winding mandrel. As shown, a drum 1 has a longitudinal opening 2 closed by a slide 3. The drum 1 is rotatably mounted by bearings 5 on the winding mandrel 9 rotatably mounted in bearings 8 in a carriage 7 having a base frame 10 supported on rollers 12 and feet 13. The mandrel 9 is driven by a motor 15. The leading end of a web 22 to be wound is secured to the winding mandrel 9 by an elastic rope 18 secured to arms 17, the end of the web being introduced between the rope and the mandrel before winding commences. For transporting the support a handle 19 (Fig. 4, not shown) is positioned beneath a threaded pin 29, Fig. 1, in a threaded bush on an arm 27. The handle 19 (Fig. 4, not shown) has one or more wheels 25 which may be driven through reduction gearing 35 by a crank handle 32.
