In a shirt-folding machine comprising an expansible collar former 16, 17, 18 mounted in a recess 14 in a shirt-supporting surface 13, a heatable presser device 29 for pressing the back outer side of the collar is urged into engagement with the collar by a spring 26 and retracted by a fluid-pressure cylinder 30 and piston 31. The presser device 29 comprises a plate 38 heated by an electric element 36 and mounted for angular adjustment in a U-shaped clamp 40 which is secured to a rod 22 slidable in bearings 23, 24. A square collar 27 adjustably secured to the rod 22 engages a support-plate 25 and prevents rotation of the rod 22. Specifications 592,886 and 765,410 are referred to.
