Abstract

895,014. Ironing presses. PARIS, A. F. May 17, 1960 [Aug. 11, 1959], No. 17359/60. Class 138 (2). The chest portion of a shirt placed over a support 46 is pressed by means of a pressing device 28 while the remainder of the shirt is being subjected to the action of steam and air pressure applied to the inner surfaces thereof. The pressing device 28 is carried by an arm 27 pivoted at 26a on a mast 26 and carrying a counterweight 29. The mast 26 is supported at 25a for limited tilting movement cushioned by springs 43, 43<SP>1</SP>. The pressing device 28 is moved into and out of pressing engagement with the support 46 by means of an air cylinder 44 and piston 45 aided by a spring 53. Operation of cylinder 44 is controlled by a solenoid which is energized by engagement of a switch arm 44b with a part 26e due to pivoting of the arm 27. Raising and lowering of the pressing device 28 is effected by air cylinders 37 and pistons 38 pivoted at 39 to the arm 27 and at 40 to camplates 31 which are pivoted at 36 to the mast 26. The cam-plates 31 and arm 27 are interconnected by pivoted guide bars 30. The cam-plates 31 engage cam rollers 33, 33<SP>1</SP>. The operation of the press and the supply of air to the interior of the garment may be controlled by a timer. Specification 624,387 is referred to.
