Abstract
886,879. Ironing presses. PAULSEN, G. May 2, 1958 [May 3, 1957], No. 14160/58. Class 138(2). A textile pressing machine, for pressing fabrics and the like, comprises upper and lower parts, one, or both, being provided with means for supplying steam thereto for dampening the fabric, and means for extracting the steam therefrom by suction, one of said parts being movably carried by a support for movement into and out of engagement with the other part, in which control means is provided and actuated by a programme switch for effecting automatically a selected one of a number of predetermined cycles of pressing operations. Any mechanical, fluid, or electrical system may operate the press and the switching system may be controlled mechanically, electrically or by photo-electric cells. The movement of the press head is arranged to operate the switching system automatically to control the durations of pressure application and steaming. As shown, a pair of trousers under the press may be steam pressed under the area indicated at 212A while at the same time, within the area 212B dry pressing a heated part is being effected. As shown in Fig. 1, a base part 2 has steam supplied to a chamber 8 and to a steam transfer chamber 9, by way of a valve 10. An air suction valve 11 leads to a suction outlet 16, the various valves being actuated by magnets.
